Over 100 student societies are currently listed by the HEC administration on campus. Belonging to one or more allows you to be a part of the life on campus. But should you not find the club that matches one particular interest you have, you can still try and found other people that agree with you so that you can then launch your own club together. Here’s a little overview of the new student clubs created this year.
After introducing you to “HEC For Equality” last week, you can now discover the “Potajouy” initiated by Olivia Debrosse and Ambre Germain.
How did you find the inspiration to create such a student club? What did you think it would add to the life of students on campus ?
Inspiration came easily during the oral exams in June at HEC, after two years working like a donkey in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, we were quite disoriented in Jouy en Josas with all those green landscapes surrounding us. I guess we needed to enjoy nature, to do something green and refreshing that would help us to keep our feet on the ground. So that’s when the idea Potajouy grew up. It may seems like a bobo Parisian speech, but we strongly believe that keeping connected with nature will help us and our friends to keep balance in our lives on the campus. We want to create a friendly environment, but also a place to chill, and overall we want to take care of what surrounds us: nature and people. So briefly, we want to add life, friendship, and biodiversity to the campus.
What are you currently working on / have you already achieved things?
We are currently working on our “summer garden»: we’ve planted some seeds, we water them and take care of them every day like babies, and we already have beautiful crops. We also spent hours creating some parcels to welcome our tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce and radish, among other. This winter we will try to keep a “winter garden” with winter varieties but it is clearly less fun to work outside when it’s zero degrees.
What could the near future hold for your association? What do you wish for?
What the future holds is uncertain, because we never know if vegetables are going to grow eventually. Anyway, we are aiming at expanding those parcels to welcome more and more varieties. Later, when we reach a great level of production, we wish to sell “panniers bio”, and to create a café in our chalet where we could taste the vegetables. Big program, a lot of work, but it’s like a little seed that we are looking forward to growing up. All of you are welcome to come and enjoy the Potajouy ! And if you want to become a prestigious donator of the Potajouy, you can contribute to our fundraising campaign to buy our greenhouse!
