Mark your calendars: the 24th of March will mark the 21st Edition of HEC’s very own Gala.
But be quick, there is only a handful of tickets for the Dinner left!
Are you fond of glamorous events, mouth-watering delicacies and fancy cocktails? Are you looking for any reason to glam up in a gorgeous dress or feel good in a suit without the specter of interviews stealing your thunder? Or do you just fancy spending a good time with your friends and meeting new people in an environment slightly better than our beloved K-Fet? If you answered yes to any of these questions (classic MECE trick, I know), then the Gala is the event for you!
A glamorous night full of surprises, the Gala is a unique opportunity for the HEC Community as a whole to strengthen the ties between current students and alumni alike. To find out more about this big night, the HEC Experience team has had the pleasure of talking to Agathe Terrou, who represents the Gala’s Team.
Agathe, in a few words, how would you convince someone still hesitating to take the leap?
Last year, it was quite the unusual and atypical Gala, as it was hosted at the Lido Parisian Cabaret. This time around, the 2018 Gala is placed under the label of refinement and sophistication (Intercontinental Hotel, Gourmet menu). It is definitely not a repetition of last years’ event and is full of surprises – speech delivered by a special guest, jazz concert and many more…
The Gala is actually a student club, in charge of making this event a night to remember. How does that work? And what made you want to embark on this journey?
First of all, we have to be extremely careful about recruitment because we want a motivated team committed to making your night as wonderful as possible.
The members are in charge of finding the perfect place, testing the menu, contacting partners and sponsors, guests, communicating, advertising, etc. A lot has to be done during the evening night as well: making sure guests are happy during both the dinner and the party, checking the entries, keeping everything flowing smoothly… Although POWs can be real fun, I must admit I am LONGING for an elegant night. And as this is probably the last night where a large part of the “promo” (before taking a Gap Year or graduating) will be there, I wanted it to be momentous. And you know the old saying: “If you want it done right, you better do it yourself”.
This time around, the Gala has put the emphasis on the entrepreneurial spirit that HEC encourages, with special guest Guillaume Gibault, founder of Le Slip français, attending. Why did you choose an HEC entrepreneur?
We also wanted this night to be inspiring for HEC students! More and more students are being puzzled by typical pathways (Finance, Consulting, Marketing) and even if today’s courses put the emphasis on establishing one’s own business, there is nothing more motivating than hearing a success story from an Alumni of your own school! Especially when you know that Guillaume was as lost a few years ago as we are now, and has now boldly decided to “reinvent the textile production in France” with products 100% Made in France.
This time around, the event will be held in the Hotel Intercontinental Paris le Grand, a historic venue opened in 1862. Fun fact: Roman Polanski filmed many scenes of the 1988 film Frantic, starring Harrison Ford, here.
