Every year in the month of April, the HEC Business Game association is organizing a competition that aims to bring big companies onto the HEC campus so as they work together with around 200 students on meaningful challenges. The challenges proposed by the HBG are related to marketing, strategy, M&As, online and CSR. What makes the event very interesting is the diversity of the participating students as they come from backgrounds such as business, economics, engineering, or social sciences and from many universities in the world (Bocconi, Solvay, Rotterdam School of Management and many more). Companies involved in the HBG in the previous years, to name just a few, included Google, Baker & McKenzie, Lufthansa and Gameloft.
But how does the HBG work? It is a two-day simulating event that involves 5 challenges, 4 hours per business case and pitches in front of all participating companies. What makes this event meaningful for companies is the idea generation that comes from the interdisciplinary teams formed during the competition. Companies benefit from the outside perspective of millennials and previous feedback has shown that HBG partners implement most of students’ recommendations. This year’s theme evolves around the concept of disruption. The HBG association believes that technology has brought a lot of disruption in the business and in the society in general and thus, companies need to anticipate this change and transform it into an opportunity to gain competitive advantage. Hence, highly debated topics such as gamification, the raise of platforms, M&As because of innovation, the future customer journey, or the reduction of jobs due to technology will give students the opportunity to be truly challenged.
Sounds like an event that suits your ambitions? If the answer is yes, the step to take is to apply through the HBG website: http://www.hecbusinessgame.com/
