When I came to HEC Paris in February for my interview, I instantly fell in love with the campus. It was lush green, widely spread and absolutely stunning in the winter sun. After coming to HEC, I started exploring the campus and was awestruck by the beauty of it. While there are numerous things you may like about the campus, I have my favorite five which I strongly recommend to others.
They are as follows:
- The Lake and Le Chateau
Hands down, the lake is the most beautiful place on the campus. It is surrounded by tall trees and completed by a bridge. Be it studying in peace or having some beer at midnight, the lake is the place where you want to be at. The best interactions on the campus happen at the lake. The music playing in the silence of the night transcends time and space. People talk, enjoy and make best friends. A little away from the lake is HEC Chateau which is as marvelous and grand as it could be. I like to listen to music while sitting in front of the majestic building.
If we were to rank HEC buildings in the order of magnificence, the Gymnasium gets the first rank. The building lights up in the evening to be at its best. It offers world class facilities and is a paradise for a sports loving person. From Badminton to Basketball, the Gymnasium has it all. If you don’t play any sports, you still want to be there to enjoy watching others play. I like playing Badminton at the Gymnasium but I love watching students play Volley Ball.
The restaurant at the campus makes you feel like home by serving you the comfort home like food day in day out. It is divided into sections and starts with the splendid salad bar extending into the grill zone followed by couple of more sections to end into the fruits sections. You may eat inside but eating outside at the benches facing the Gymnasium and the Chapel is even better. RU is a place not just to eat but to debate and interact as well. I remember the last time we had a discussion on languages, it lasted for more than an hour.
- The Forest
Yes, you read that right. The huge campus includes a forest with thick growth of trees. There is a magnificent jogging track inside the forest. At any given point in time, you may find people jogging there. The track also surrounds the lake. Are you a nature lover? If yes, you will fall in love with the forest instantly. Whenever I have to go to the lake, I take the path which runs through the forest. It reminds me of my home country and brings back a lot of memories.
- Simply Market
Okay, so this is not HEC property but very much part of the HEC experience. It is a supermarket right across the campus and is one of the most visited places in the vicinity. All of our basic supplies and alcohol come from Simply. If you missed the dinner at the RU, you are at Simply. If you feel like having a beer and don’t have one, you are again at Simply.
HEC Campus has a lot to offer in terms of the overall experience and different people get attached to different parts of the Campus however, everybody feels welcomed and at home when they are inside it. For hundreds of International students like me who come from various countries, HEC Campus is our new home and we love it! Next time you visit HEC Campus, do not forget to visit these places.
